While other UTVs lose efficiencies by going 4X4 drive, the Nikola Zero™ increases efficiencies in 4X4 mode due to the nature of electric motors at each wheel. The Nikola Zero™ has motors at each wheel, increasing efficiencies, delivering instant responses and eliminating the failures of belts altogether. What does this mean? Less slip, less breakdowns, instant power, better performance, faster response, incredible regenerative stopping power, and true Nikola™ power any time, anywhere... even underwater. The Nikola Zero™ was built military-grade and the electric motors and gearboxes do not require air to operate.
This extremely wide RPM range makes it ideal for all types of riding, including rock crawling, trails, desert, snow, and dunes. There is literally no other vehicle like it in the world.
Cornering like you have never seen before. Drivers can go full pedal for longer into corners. All racers know that speed into corners is the key to winning. With 10° of rear steering and regenerative braking, you can take corners 2-3x faster and accelerate out of them faster than any other UTV on the market.
Control each motor up to 30 times per second. This means instant response to terrain and cornering. Like no other UTV has ever seen.
Control all 4 wheels differently at any given time. No other UTV can do that. No other UTV can keep up on the sand dunes, mud, rock crawling or hunting. It truly is revolutionary.
With IP67 ratings on all parts, you can submerge your UTV in water and drive out. Although we do not condone this activity and strictly prohibit it for safety reasons, being waterproof gives you peace of mind when going through wet terrain.
Gears are made to handle ANYTHING you throw at it. Blow the competition out of the water with the Nikola Zero™. The Nikola Zero™ has motors and gears at each wheel, increasing efficiencies, delivering instant responses and eliminating the failures of belts altogether. What does this mean? No slip, less breakdowns, instant power, better performance, faster response, incredible regenerative stopping power, and true Nikola™ power any time, anywhere... even underwater. The Nikola Zero™ was built military-grade and can be submerged and not harmed.
With gas powered UTVs, your center of gravity is high above the frame rail due to the natural placement of the engine and turbos. With the Nikola Zero™ electric UTV, your center of gravity is lowered by removing the engine, belt housing and emission equipment. The batteries are installed inside the bottom frame rail, moving the motors to each wheel and keeping a majority of the weight at or below your feet.
The Nikola Zero™ offers unmatched cornering that has never been felt before. Better suspension, longer travel and larger tires. These features could never be achieved with a gasoline version due to physical limitations. With the Nikola Zero™, you get all this and much more!
With so many accessories becoming available for UTVs, visibility is at an all time low. With the Nikola Zero™, you get full visability backing up, rock crawling or getting in and out of trailers. Less accidents occur when you see what's coming.
In addition to the plug-in options, the Nikola Zero™ also receives power from a custom 400 watt solar roof. While the solar panel roof primarily powers the 12 volt battery bank, it also assist in powering the main 400 volt lithium battery array and can come in handy in emergency situations. Depending on weather conditions, this solar roof can output up to 3 kilowatt hours (3kWh) of energy each day, which equates to more than a mile of driving for every hour of sun.
The only sounds you hear come from our high quality sound system and your friends enjoying the ride. If that sound is not inspiring enough, wait until you hear the gearbox spinning at 8,0000 RPMs! The list of advantages of electric drivetrains continues to be proven by the ongoing success of EV companies such as Tesla and others. Electric outperforms gasoline in nearly every category.
The progressive rate upper spring is a lighter-weight spring that absorbs small impacts while the stiffer main spring maintains ground clearance and absorbs bigger impacts in rough terrain. The race-inspired 3-link trailing arm rear suspension serves up an incredible 20 inches of rear wheel travel. Matched to an astounding 20-inches of front suspension travel, the king of side-by-sides conquers the toughest terrains. The precisely tuned suspension can be adjusted to any riding condition and ensures the Nikola Zero™ can tackle the toughest terrain while keeping the ride plush and enjoyable.
The 3.0 Podium Internal Bypass shocks from Fox are dual speed compression, spring preloaded and crossover works of art. They have a 3" smooth bore and honed alloy body. Zinc-plated and 6061-T6 billet aluminum components. There are 7 compression stages and 4 rebound stages with bottom-out control. No other UTV comes close to the Nikola Zero™.
The industry knows that Beard seats are hands down the best seats on the market and they come standard in the Nikola Zero™. With 4" more legroom than the competition, your passengers will thank you at the end of the ride. Let's talk about what really matters in the passenger area. Unlike the competition, we give you (2) 12V outlets, (1) 110V outlet, 4 USB outlets, LED lighting and great storage.
We placed 4 point safety belts for all passengers to make sure they stay stuck to the seats during the extreme experience of the 520 HP Nikola Zero™!
Nikola™ allows you to go online, create a profile and set paramaters for who can drive. Just create a PIN number for them to unlock their profile and start driving. For you, you may want full 100% power, speed and distance. For your significant other, you may want 70% power and speed. For your kids you may have one that is a racer that gets all the features like yourself. Or you may want a beginner profile that limits the side-by-side to 15 MPH and a two mile radius. Try asking the competition for that! With 4G uplink, we can update your UTV over the air and always have it ready for you to drive.
You can go online at anytime and view your trips, track your miles, see your energy consumption and see who has driven your side-by-side. Need to find your UTV? Simply login and track it just like your lost phone. With GPS tracking, your side-by-side has never been more trackable.

Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions we have received. They are organized alphabetically by category, not in order of relevance.
Q: What is the warranty on the battery pack?
A: Each battery pack is warrantied for the three years or 30,000 miles, whichever comes first. Most packs last well over the life of an average UTV.
Q: What is the size of the battery pack for the Nikola Zero™?
A: The Nikola Zero™ prototype has a 52 kilowatt hour (kWh) battery pack. The production model battery pack for the Nikola Zero™ is currently projected to have a 72 kilowatt hour (kWh) battery pack but might be slightly larger or smaller, depending on electric motor power needs as determined during testing.
Q: What kind of cells are in the battery packs?
A: The Nikola Zero™ battery pack has 18,650 lithium ion cells. There are several top manufactures of these cells, and we are still deciding which brand of lithium ion cell will be used based on which will provide the best performance. Once we have chosen a manufacturer, we will make an announcement.
Q: How much does the battery pack weigh?
A: The weight of the battery pack will depend on the final size of the production model battery pack. We estimate the production model battery pack will weigh around 400 lbs.
Q: Is the battery pack weatherproof? Will it erode due to harsh or extreme conditions?
A: Each battery pack will be IP-67 rated, which means it can withstand being submerged in water without causing damage. The battery pack will be tested under the harshest conditions to ensure suitability in extreme climates even when being blasted with water, mud and road salt.
Q: How far can the Nikola Zero™ travel on batteries pack alone?
A: Each Nikola Zero™ is outfitted with a 72 kWh battery pack. The Nikola Zero™ can travel around 100 - 200 miles at full battery level, depending on how hard you push it and the terrain you are in.
Q: How much does the Nikola Zero™ cost?
A: Right now, the cost is $37,000 for a Nikola Zero™.
Q: Does my Nikola Zero™ qualify for Electric Vehicle credits?
A: Until we go through full vehicle crash testing that are required on cars, they will not qualify. There may be states that allow a street legal Nikola Zero™ to qualify. Consult your accountant.
Q: Will Nikola Powersports™ have dealerships?
A: Yes. We plan to have our own Nikola Powersports™ dealerships, but we will also work with other dealers in areas where we have not yet established a dealership presence.
Q: How can I apply for a Nikola™ Dealership?
A: We have not announced where we plan to establish franchised dealerships, but if you would like additional information when it is available, please submit your information here.
Q: How does electric driving work? Are there any gears or a clutch?
A: There is no clutch with the Nikola Zero™. It isn't needed. You have an accelerator pedal and a brake pedal. Just press either pedal to stop or go. It is that simple.
Q: How is the torque compared to a traditional UTV?
A: With 4 electric motors at each wheel, you get a unique 4x4 experience with full torque nearly the entire time. This means you do not have to hit a certain RPM to get torque. You just hit the pedal and instantly you have torque, another benefit of the electric motor. From 1MPH to 85MP, you get near 100% torque. That's an advantage you only dream about with a gas version.
Q: What noises will I hear from the electric motors?
A: The Nikola Zero™ is nearly silent. The only noise you hear are the gear reductions and radiator fans, and occasionally cooling pumps.
Q: What about braking?
A: The Nikola Zero™ uses the electric motors to do most of the braking, which also charges the batteries at the same time. The electric motors can be reversed to slow you down much faster while remaining nearly 100% silent. Say good-bye to noisy tiny brakes. When needed, the massive 14” disc brakes will kick in to assist the motors. This will extend the life of your disc brakes by nearly 3-4x and give you almost double the stopping power. This is yet another safety feature offered by the Nikola Zero™ UTV when compared to a gas model.
Q: How often do I need to re charge?
A: The Nikola Zero™ has a 100 - 200 mile range. You will want to plan your route accordingly.
Q: Does the solar panel help charge the batteries?
A: Yes. The panel primarily charges the 12V bank, and charges the 400V bank as well. While it is not a lot of power, it can add up to 10 miles to your range each day.
Q: How big is the solar panel?
A: The solar panel is a custom 400 watt panel. This can produce, in good weather, up to 3 kilowatts (kW) each day.
Q: How do I charge?
A: There are three ways to charge your Nikola Zero™. A 110V outlet, a vehicle charger (J1772), or a DC fast charger of 25kW per hour.
Q: How long does it take to charge?
A: The DC fast charger can charge from empty to full in 2 hours. The J1772 standard vehicle charger can charge at a rate of 15kW each hour for a 7 hour charge. Or your 110V outlet can charge in about 14 hours.
Q: What is the horsepower and torque?
A: Our current prototype has up to 520 HP and up to 476 ft-lbs of torque. The Nikola Zero™ will outperform any production gas version made to date.
Q: Why so much horsepower and torque?
A: The advantage of the electric motor is that you only use what you need, when you need it. You are not penalized by having electric motors with greater HP and Torque. The motors only take the exact amount of energy they need to perform as directed and not a kilowatt more. So when you need that extra horsepower and torque to climb a hill or tow, you have it. When you don't need it, you don't use it.
Q: Will you offer a smaller horsepower and torque package?
A: We may offer smaller configurations depending on results from testing. We plan to provide more details on this at a later date.
Q: What features are included in the Nikola Zero™ interior?
A: Each Nikola Zero™ will have a state of the art interior, providing comforts never offered before on production models. Here are some of the options we plan to offer;
Q: What configurations will Nikola™ offer?
A: The Nikola Zero™ will have two options initially. A four seat configuration and a two seat configuration. The two seat configuration will have the same battery power and features as the four seat configuration.
Q: Does Nikola Powersports™ plan to enter other vehicle markets?
A: Yes. We have several other ideas we have worked on internally, but will only announce those when we feel it is appropriate.
Q: How do I order a Nikola Zero™ UTV? Is a down payment required?
A: You can place a reservation for a Nikola Zero™ UTV for $750 by clicking any of the Reserve buttons or links throughout this website. That specialist will also be added to your profile for any questions you may have. If you experience any difficulties in your reservation process, please contact us.
Q: What does my reservation get me?
A reservation for a Nikola Zero™ saves you a place in line to be one of the first to receive a Nikola Zero™. Reservations will be filled in the order they are received and continue to come in daily. The sooner you reserve your Nikola Zero™ the sooner you will receive it once deliveries begin.
Q: How long until I get my Nikola Zero™ once I place a reservation?
A: We plan to begin delivering the UTV's in 2017. Due to high demand, the quicker you place a deposit, the faster you can get your Nikola Zero™.
Q: What about taxes and credits?
Buyer is responsible for state, federal and any other taxes associated with the purchase. These will be outlined to you in the final order form along with financing options, payment options and other information. There are state and federal credits that apply towards electric or hybrid vehicles. Check with your accountant to see if you qualify. About a month and a half before your Nikola Zero™ enters production you will be assigned a vehicle identification number (VIN). This number is often required by insurance companies and financing banks.
Q: How will registration work?
In most cases, Nikola™ will register your Nikola Zero™ on your behalf with your state's department of motor vehicles (DMV). Sales tax and registration fees will be collected as part of final payment. In some cases, your Nikola Zero™ will be considered an out-of-state purchase. Your Delivery Experience Specialist will let you know if this applies to you and provide you with the necessary documents to self-register your Nikola Zero™. We will issue a temporary tag so you can legally drive your Nikola Zero™ off-road as soon as you take delivery. Depending on your payment type, you can register your Nikola Zero™ to your business, a trust, or up to two registrants. We'll make sure your registration documents reflect this selection. If you plan to finance your Nikola Zero™, your registration and financing documents must match. All registrants must be present at delivery to sign.
Q: How will the final payment be processed?
Once you have finalized your payment, the Delivery team will provide you with an itemized breakdown of options, taxes and registration fees prior to your vehicle delivery. Any balance due can be paid at that time. Final payment may be completed by using an electronic bank account debit or a check from a financing bank or credit union. Alternate payment options include a certified check or wire transfer. Credit cards are not accepted for final payment. Any balance due must be paid in full before you can take delivery of your vehicle. If you wish to pay your outstanding balance using multiple bank accounts, simply enter multiple electronic bank account debit requests. Nikola™ is not always able to collect sales tax and registration fees on your behalf. Your Delivery Experience Specialist will mention if this applies to you. In this special case, your vehicle will be considered an out-of-state purchase and you'll be responsible for paying sales tax and registration fees directly to your state's department of motor vehicles. These out-of-state purchases also require that final payment for your vehicle be made before your delivery appointment.
Q: Will software updates be available?
Nikola™ vehicles regularly receives over-the-air software updates that add new functionality and features. When an update is available, you'll be notified on the center display with an option to install immediately, or schedule the installation for a later time. The average software update takes 1-2 hours to complete.
Q: Is my Nikola Zero™ street legal?
A: The Nikola Zero™ comes with most everything you need to get your Nikola Zero™ street legal; mirrors, fenders, lights, horn, turn signals and optional windshield and wiper assembly. You will want to check with your local DMV to see if they allow UTV's to be street legal. Each state is different. They do require insurance if you want to street legal them, which is normally quite inexpensive.
Q: What fuel does the engine or turbine run on?
A: The Nikola Zero™ has no engine or turbine and therefore does not run on fuel. It runs on electricity.
Q: How loud is the Nikola Zero™?
A: The Nikola Zero™ is nearly silent. The only noise you hear are the gear reductions and radiator fans, and occasionally cooling pumps.
Q: What does the warranty and scheduled maintenance program look like?
A: We will announce exact details of these programs before final ordering. For now, while it may change some, our goal is to provide all Nikola Zero™ orders with warranty and service coverage through the entire United States and Canada. We will have dealership networks ready to go and service you once you take delivery.
Q: What is the service network going to look like? Where can I get my Nikola Zero™ serviced?
A: We will provide more details on this as we approach delivery of the UTV's. We will have a map of all states and their locations.
